Set Your Child Up for Success Visit Our Round Rock Office for an Early Evaluation

We offer free, comprehensive consultations to help you explore orthodontics for your child without a financial burden looming overhead.

These consultations are more than just a quick exam. When you visit our Round Rock office, Dr. Hau will take the time to examine your child's smile and take a 3D cone beam scan to get a closer look at all the structures of their mouth and spot any irregularities not seen by the naked eye. Many dental offices won't offer this level of comprehensive treatment for free, but this in-depth free consultation is critical to detecting concerns at their earliest stages.

What Is Early Orthodontic Treatment?

Smiling young girl with missing teeth

Early orthodontic treatment, also known as interceptive orthodontics, means taking the initial steps of orthodontic treatment while your child still has some of their baby teeth. At Jovan Orthodontics, we believe early intervention is the best prevention. Being proactive can prevent concerns such as crossbites, underbites, overbites, or gapped front teeth from developing and causing irreversible damage.

Most children will not need any treatment after their initial evaluation. For those who do, early orthodontic treatment such as braces allows our orthodontist to set the stage for your child's permanent teeth to develop properly, and build a foundation for a lifetime of oral health.

The Benefits of Early Treatment

Dr. Hau believes that timing means everything for your child's orthodontics journey. The earlier we spot concerns with your child's tooth growth, the easier it is to manage them. She aims to help your child enjoy a lifetime of happy and healthy smiles through early treatment. Early start orthodontics can help:

  • Guide jaw growth into a typical pattern
  • Lower the risk of trauma to protruding front teeth
  • Correct harmful oral habits
  • Improve appearance and self-esteem
  • Improve breathing issues
  • Reduce the risk of more complex treatment in teens
  • Reduce the need for tooth extraction
  • Reduce the need for surgical intervention
  • Encourage smiling and boost social skills
  • Guide permanent teeth into a more favorable position

Kind Care For All Ages

/

When your child visits our office, we immediately focus on making their appointment enjoyable. We get down on their level without forgetting to educate you, as a parent, about their oral health. No matter what your kiddo needs, you can trust our team to safeguard your child's teeth and help them smile through the process.

Motivating Children With Fun Prizes The Jovan Jewels Rewards System

Braces and other orthodontic treatments can require a lot of motivation, which is why we created the Jovan Jewels dental rewards system. You don't have to be a patient to join, so parents are welcome to stay motivated alongside your child. The Jovan Jewels rewards system uses a three-step approach to motivate patients and parents throughout orthodontic treatment:

We Accept
Insurance and Financing

/

We accept most insurance providers, and accept financing through CareCredit for patients without insurance coverage. Financing plans allow you to pay for orthodontic care over time with low-to-no-interest monthly payments.

Our Early Orthodontic Treatment Process

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends parents bring their child to their first orthodontic visit by age seven.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends parents bring their child to their first orthodontic visit by age seven.

Examining Your Child's Teeth

We recommend scheduling your child's initial orthodontic exam around age six or seven. Though children this age still have baby teeth, they have enough permanent teeth to allow our orthodontist to see roughly how their teeth will develop.

Scanning Your Child's Smile

As part of the exam, Dr. Hau will capture detailed digital scans with our 3D cone beam scanner. This gives Dr. Hau a precise look at how your child's dental health is progressing. Cone beam CT scans provide more information than basic dental X-rays, with less exposure to radiation.

Developing a Plan

Once our orthodontist has a clear understanding of your child's current smile and how their permanent teeth will fall into place, we'll know if any early treatment is needed. If so, we'll begin developing a plan to assist your child's teeth through this process to create a more aligned smile free of dental concerns, such as crossbites, overbites, and other misaligned bites.

Starting Treatment

After your early start orthodontics exam, Dr. Hau will discuss treatment options, such as braces, and when she suggests your child begin treatment. For children needing orthodontic treatment, braces are often the most reliable option.
